The wānanga journey transforming how leaders in philanthropy and social change understand and support Māori aspirations in Aotearoa.
Tūmanako Consultants works in service to Aotearoa & Te Ao Māori, contributing to a nation where Te Ao Māori and Te Ao Pākehā work in synergy. This requires us to value Te Ao Māori and to understand our past, so that we can build the Aotearoa of tomorrow, together.
Our work
Mātai is a comprehensive cultural review process that helps organisations discover what's working well, identify areas for growth, and plan meaningful changes to better support Māori aspirations and work more authentically in Aotearoa through interviews, document analysis, and strategic planning.
Haeata is an overnight, marae-based wānanga that introduces boards and teams to Te Tiriti o Waitangi within the context of Aotearoa's history, helping participants understand what this means for them personally, professionally, and organisationally in creating a thriving future together.
Māhina is a follow-up wānanga series for organisations who have completed Haeata, providing practical support to explore, plan, and implement Te Tiriti learnings into day-to-day mahi, strengthening leadership capability and organisational practice in Te Ao Māori.
Kaihāpai provides one-on-one or group cultural supervision, creating a safe, confidential space for leaders and staff to discuss, reflect on, and improve their work with Māori communities, building confidence and capability over time through regular sessions.
Cultural Onboarding guides organisations through identifying and welcoming trustees, leaders, and team members with strong cultural competence, ensuring new people are brought on well and positioned to contribute meaningfully to your Te Tiriti journey from day one.
